The Red Lava

In this experiment we drank the water to a limit. First, we put the oil. Second, we put the Alka-Seltzer into the solutions of the water and oil. Third, we put in red food coloring. This is the way we made our own Lava Lamp.

When we put the oil and the water together in the bottle it made a heterogenous mixture. That means that we can separate it easily. It also creates a suspension witch it is when the oil is staying above the water. The water has more density than the oil because the water is on the bottom holding the oil.

When we put the tablet in the bottle, the bubbles started to rise to the oil. Then we put the red coloring and the coloring went to the water instead of making the oil red. The tablet was dissolving and that's when the bubbles were created.
