This demonstration of knowledge video explains how to create your own lava lamp! The video shows the different mixtures and compounds and how they combine.
I like how you included lots of information, with the reactions of the steps as you went. Did you understand a lot more the second time doing this experiment then the first? I did!
I really liked the background music embedded into your video. Next time, you should consider going more in depth in why the Alka Seltzer created a chemical reaction. What does the alka seltzer tablet create that wasn't already a part of the mixture?
I really like how much information you included in every little detail. It was also very organized and easy to follow. What did the alka seltzer realize to make that chemical reaction?
Having just done this Lava Lamp Lab and all the things you can learn about this little lab. In my video, I talked about different elements, properties, and substances that happened in this lab. The solute, solvent, and solution were all a part of this lab and the materials that were used as food coloring, oil, water and alka-seltzer tablets. This was a very good lab and a very informative lab.
In this experiment we drank the water to a limit. First, we put the oil. Second, we put the Alka-Seltzer into the solutions of the water and oil. Third, we put in red food coloring. This is the way we made our own Lava Lamp. When we put the oil and the water together in the bottle it made a heterogenous mixture. That means that we can separate it easily. It also creates a suspension witch it is when the oil is staying above the water. The water has more density than the oil because the water is on the bottom holding the oil. When we put the tablet in the bottle, the bubbles started to rise to the oil. Then we put the red coloring and the coloring went to the water instead of making the oil red. The tablet was dissolving and that's when the bubbles were created.
The Scientific Process of a Lava Lamp Who knew you could create a lava lamp with just four ingredients? Water, oil, food coloring, and an Alka Seltzer tablet creates a chemical reaction that is similar to lava lamps. This video is how the lab went, the procedures my partners and I needed to accomplish, and how the experiment reacted. Watch below to learn more about the lab.
